It’s not just holiday home sales and caravan holidays – Lyons Holiday Parks are proud to introduce luxury lodges into their hire fleet options!
The summer is here, and what better way to spend these long, hot months than in a luxury lodge overlooking panoramic views of North Wales? With finesse and quality at your fingertips – and maybe even a hot tub – our lodge holidays at various Lyons Holiday Park locations guarantee a glorious stay.
Our introduction of lodges into hire- fleet
Established in 1924, we’ve been providing affordable and accessible holidays for almost 100 years. This family-run business has witnessed innumerable changes. Some small, some mighty, and some we look back on and think, ‘how did we survive without it?!’ From classic units like the Eccles Motor Transport at the turn of the century to the 1937 Car Cruiser which took touring to a new level. After mass-production of the classic caravan took off in the 1930s, caravans were coveted by many groups of people, including the middle classes, VIPs and maharajah, to gypsies all over the world.
Elements such as accessible electric to static caravans, conventionalised tow-bars and chassis, and even the basic toilet have all changed the industry over the years. The dawn of the chemical toilet – which was at first standalone before built-ins were introduced – brought luxury and comfort to an unknown level, and today we wouldn’t be seen without it.
We have always stayed in line with the needs of our consumers. Whether that’s to do with decking, WiFi, or hardstanding plots, we adapt, and we change with you. This has always been our mission, in order for us to ensure you get the exact holiday you want and deserve.
From the simple life to the luxury life
The concept of holiday cottages and domestic leisure destinations harkens back to post-war Britain when people wanted to go off on their jollies. But with both economic and geo-political anxieties still high, the UK holiday home industry began its upward slope in the 1940s.
Its popularity – mainly due to ease of access, familiarity on home turf, and even financial benefits for the wealthy – grew and grew. Holiday homeowners soon noted the advantages of renting out these buildings, and so the industry continued to adapt, with more units being erected across the country.
Today, the global short-term vacation property rental market is estimated to be worth around $100 billion. In Snowdonia, where our Snowdon View park is situated, holiday homes and second homes makes up around 14% of the housing stock in comparison to 1% of Wales as a whole. The market in North Wales has always been satiated with leisure units: first tourer caravans, then statics, and now lodges.
Can people hire out a lodge for a holiday?
The good news this season is that the very first hire fleet lodge has been sited at Lyons Woodlands Hall!
The gorgeous 2019 Willerby Clearwater now sits proudly above the wooded Vale of Clwyd, overlooking glorious views of the valley and Moel Famau. This luxury unit will soon see the installation of decking and cover, and….a 6-person hot tub right outside!
This is a huge win for guests across the UK, with many bookings already in place for people to take advantage of the rural setting, solitude, and relaxing warm bubbles in style.
Are holiday lodge sales on the up?
Joseph Lyons-Mound Jnr, company director, believes the holiday lodge sales industry is on an ever-increasing upwards slope. With many holiday homeowners already aware of the lifestyle and financial investment ownership entails, many are keen to upgrade their static caravans to lodges. Once the luxury lifestyle has been clocked, it’s hard to think of anything else. And once you’ve seen a 40 x 14ft beautiful lodge sited on a desirable corner-plot of the park, there ain’t no looking back!
Holiday parks such as Lyons are evolving year on year, which means our stock and plots do too. This year has seen a huge increase in the purchase of holiday lodges, with a record-breaking number of owners opting for the ultimate luxury lifestyle. Joseph Lyons-Mound predicts this will only increase further into 2021, while the unknown regarding lockdown continues, and with millions of Brits keen to invest in something positive and productive.
What’s the difference between a holiday home and a lodge?
Quite simply, it’s all in the build. A holiday home is a standard unit of anything that’s under 20ft wide, which is sited on a single base. These units have everything you’ll ever need (including toilet facilities, a kitchen, dining area, bedrooms, living area and often decking and patio options.) Lodges offer a lot more space, and include any units that are wider than 20ft. These will use a twin base (or twin plot) and you’ll be charged a bit extra for the site fees.
Both holiday homes and lodges at all Lyons Holiday Park facilities come with the same perks of ownership. These include:
- Access to facilities on-park including amusement arcades, swimming pools, diners, restaurants, bars, soft play and more
- No site fees for the first year
- Owners Select Passes entitling you to discounts at over 60 local locations
- On-site activities and entertainment
- Events, shows, and fun days on-park
- Winter storage with security and
Why have holiday lodges become so popular?
Michelle McKelvie, bookings manager for Lyons Holiday Parks, says it’s all to do with the luxury life. She said: “Even before the pandemic, people have been increasingly eager to have a luxury staycation. It’s easier, faster, and more often than not, cheaper to holiday at home. But there has always been a stigma around the term ‘caravan holiday.’ For people who haven’t stayed in a holiday home (or static caravan) before, it can sound quite basic.
“Just the term ‘lodge’ sounds more inviting, and people associate it with a getaway and something exciting. Even the term ‘holiday cottage’ has its restrictions – we think of countryside cobbles and quaint thatched roofs. But ‘lodge’ has that vacation element and it’s easy to picture an intimate, private, and comfortable setting where the good times will flow.”
This year more than ever, the UK are eager to relax and retreat. But with anxieties surrounding foreign travel, and further talks of lockdown easing being postponed, people are scared to cough up for a Costa Del holiday that could get cancelled. So here enters the appeal of the holiday lodge – a place to get away from normal life, with all the home comforts you need.
