Best dog friendly beaches in North Wales

Point of Ayr Beach in Talacre is one of North Wales’ best spots for a coastal walk with your dog, with dogs welcome all year round. Its wide stretch of golden sand is home to the historic Point of Ayr Lighthouse, built in 1776, which can be reached on foot at low tide.

The surrounding sand dunes and nearby Dee Estuary are important habitats for wildlife, including rare birds, so it’s worth keeping dogs under close control in protected areas. Be sure to check tide times before walking towards the lighthouse, as the incoming tide can cut off access.
