You will need:
- Empty (cleaned and washed) jars
- Black paint
- Orange paint
- Glitter
- Paintbrush
Instructions:
- Paint the jars with orange paint, using more than one coat if necessary

- Use the black paint to make the pumpkin eyes and mouth
- Fill with marshmallows, chocolate, or your favourite sweet treats
3. Seriously sticky creepy slime
No explanation needed: slime is perhaps the biggest among the Halloween craft ideas – here’s how to make it yourself!
You will need:
- Large bottle of school glue
- 2 tablespoons saline solution (the water in a contact lens bottle!)
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- Food colouring (optional)
Instructions:
- Mix the glue and food colouring in the bowl
- Add the baking soda
- Mix in the saline solution – add more if it’s too sticky, as it’ll get thicker with the more you add
- Pull the goo together and knead it until it holds as a clump!
4. Halloween mummies
Super resourceful, simple and affordable, these messy mummies are a sure way to get the kids in the spooky spirit!
You will need:
- Toilet roll tube
- White tissue paper or toilet roll cut into strips
- Googly eyes
- Glue
- Sponges
Instructions:
- Thin the glue with water in a bowl, and mix it well
- Spread the gooey glue over the toilet roll tube with the sponges
- Wrap the tissue strips around it – whichever way you want!
- Add another layer of glue, then tissue, then glue, until you’re happy with the mummy size
- Set it to one side to dry (and don’t worry if it looks like a soggy mess, it will dry!)
- Once dry, add googly eyes to your toilet roll mummy
- Put on the shelf and let them scare the ghosts away!
5. Hankie ghosts
Mess-free, simple, and durable, these little fabric ghouls are ideal to make for all ages!
You will need:
- White fabric (hankies, muslin cloths, flannels or any spare linen!)
- Scissors
- Ribbon
- Cotton wool balls
- Black marker
Instructions:
- Cut the fabric into a square
- For the patterned edges, older kids can use scissors to make a zig-zag and tots can use safe-edged scissors
- Use the sharpie to add extra patterns to the bottom
- Flip the cloth over and pop a cotton wool ball in the centre
- Gather the fabric around the ball together, making a head as seen in the picture below
- Tie the neck with a ribbon
- Add eye dots with the sharpie
- Finish it off if you like with some clear string and hang your gruesome ghouls from the windows and door frames!
