If you’re interested in holiday homeownership, it’s always good practice to look into how long you can stay on-park. This is because many sites vary their season length depending on location, ownership package, and facilities.

Can you live permanently in a caravan park?
Each caravan site is different, but there are generally two types of caravan parks: residential caravan parks, and holiday parks. Each of our 14 caravan sites across North Wales & Cumbria fall into the latter category, meaning our owners can’t live in them as their first home.
Holiday homes are booming in popularity thanks to the 2021 staycation obsession in line with the Covid-19 pandemic. But the clue is in the name. A holiday home is just that. A place to holiday when you feel like escaping everyday life in your permanent abode. The rules and regulations of a holiday park indicate that owners must have a fixed permanent address on record – see your Pitch Licence Agreement for details – to demonstrate that their new or pre-loved model on-park is simply a vacation station.
Residential parks are ones where people live permanently, in either holiday homes, caravans, motorhomes or lodges. Here, residents are required to pay council tax as it’s a long-term address. This is something you don’t have to do at a holiday park. A residential caravan site is often thought of as a small community or collection of dwellings where people live in mobile homes.
You may not be able to live in our parks, but you can enjoy the leisurely lifestyle you want for up to 52 weeks of the year. Just remember, as long as you still have a fixed permanent address where you’re the bill-payer!

Where can I live in my caravan all year round?
If you’re looking for a permanent place to live, holiday parks aren’t the right place for you. There are pockets of communities that offer residential holiday home ownership in the UK. But you should research the costs and licence terms before choosing to move to a residential holiday park.
Two of our parks offer year-round access to your own home-from-home, meaning you can visit any weekend you like! Both Lyons St Mary’s Touring Park in Gronant, and Lyons Manor House Park in Allonby have a 12-month season. This means that these sites don’t close for a few short weeks over winter like the majority of our portfolio.
Government guidelines for caravan sites 2021
The road to normality has been a windy and anxious one, with multiple lockdowns across all 4 devolved nations. Different legislation across Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and England means keeping up with changing rules about holidays is hard. We’ve lived through THE lockdown of 2020, and lockdown 2.0. Then fire break lockdowns, local lockdowns, and vaccination roll-outs. The came Covid passport and booster jabs. And we’re sure by this point, many of you are wondering when the insanity will end.

How long can a static caravan stay on-site?
Don’t confuse ‘how long your caravan can stay on site’ with ‘how many months of the year you can holiday in your caravan.’ How many years your holiday home can stay on one particular park depends on the company’s individual policy.
