The all-singing, all-dancing unstoppable Robin Hood Rangers are back and they’re raring to go for a sell-out summer at Lyons Holiday Parks.
Our Ents Team, the new Robin Hood Rangers, are back! This year, they’re complete with all the glitz and glamour you’d expect at one of the region’s leading holiday parks. On the cards this season are some wonderful events and activities, suitable for all ages – even the adults! You’re in store for dance parties, pantomimes, live guest acts, Leo, Milo and Hetty’s breakfasts, bingo, family games, quizzes and more!
We’ve had sneak previews of the brilliant 7-strong team in their full glory, complete with cabaret acts, dressed as dames – there’s even an Elvis in the programme this year! These talented individuals can put their hand to anything and are truly set to entertain you with their many guises, outfits and characters this year.
But behind all the glitter and makeup, there are half a dozen budding entertainers who have a lust for life, not just for the stage! We sit down with the magical Martin Mugglestone, this year’s Entertainment manager and the man behind all the miracles this year…
How did the team come together?
This year’s wonderful Ents team came together through a gruelling audition process where they had to come in, sing, dance, act, present, and show off their talents. We could get 100 people apply for these spaces, and we had to narrow it down to just six spaces which was difficult, but I’m confident the team this year is the best it can be and the individuals chosen are wonderfully and beautifully talented in different ways.
What sort of training regime did you undergo before season started?
We had four weeks to rehearse all the shows, pantomimes, daytime activities, obviously go through training, health and safety training, Covid training, fire training…every kind of training you can imagine! As well as getting the venue and all the entertainment, the music, the lights ready, and ordering the costumes and actually making some of the props ourselves. It’s nothing short of a miracle what we’ve pulled off this year, given the constraints and regulations, but what I can say is that the level of entertainment this year is second to none and it’s been a huge team effort.
What’s your favourite part of the Ents programme this year?
My favourite part of the Ents programme this year? I think I’m going to have to say the panto! The whole team is in this production, which runs twice a week, and it’s an event the whole family can get involved with. I love it too because people associate pantomimes with Christmas, but when you’re in a holiday park, every day is as magical, sparkly and happy as the festive holidays. I think with people missing Christmas last year, a lot of people feel like they’ve lost out on a panto experience so we’re thrilled to be able to bring this to hundreds of families here in Rhyl this summer.
How different is Lyons Robin Hood to some of the destinations you’ve entertained at in the past?
Lyons Robin Hood is the ultimate family environment: I’ve never seen one park which caters to people of all ages, natures and characteristics so vastly! What I’ve seen in the short time I’ve been here is that everyone gets on, everyone is happy to help, and I think after the year we’ve had, everyone is super keen to make this year a cracking one to remember for all the right reasons. And that’s where we come in!

Meet the 2021 Ents Team
Craig
This is Craig, who loves anything to do with pantomimes, musical theatre, or magic! He’s a professional magician, singer, and entertainer, and can make anyone laugh. He thinks salted caramel is the best thing in the world, and comes from the West Midlands.
Hannah
Hannah, from Birmingham, is the youngest member of our Ents team this year – but for such a young woman, her voice is anything but small! This diva can bring the house down, which we’re sure you’ll see over the course of the season. She has a rescue dog all the way from Greece, and has a birthmark on her leg in the shape of the UK! Hannah loves Creme Eggs, so much so that she buys them in bulk to eat all year round.
Jenna
Jenna has travelled all the way from Dumfries in Scotland to be with us this year, alongside her identical twin and best friend, Jayd. Her dream is to become a professional dancer on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. She loves anything sparkly and glittery, and is a self-confessed chocaholic.
Emma
With over 8 years’ experience in the entertainment industry, our professional entertainer Emma is no stranger to performing. She can play four different types of instruments and is originally from County Durham. Don’t bring any green sweets near Emma – but her favourite food, homemade lasagne, will do the trick if you need a favour from her!
Jayd
Identical twin Jayd is also from Dumfries, but confesses her ideal pet would be a black lab called Sydney. She says the best thing about being in Wales are the Welsh cakes, and her favourite film of all time is The Greatest Showman.
Lewis
Lewis, the number one rock and roll fan is a dab hand at the guitar! He’s come all the way from Lincolnshire and tells us he once played Grand Theft Auto 5 as a paid job. The fun fact some might find shocking: Lewis has never eaten a pizza!
