Getting sick and tired of the same old walks that you’ve found yourself on repeatedly over lockdown? Try these picturesque walking spots across North Wales and Cumbria!

Or join us with our own charity challenge during National Walking Month!

It’s National Walking Month, so it’s only right that we honour the occasion with not only a blog post on walks for all the family but with getting a stride on ourselves!

Team Lyons Snowdon Challenge

Bright and early on Monday morning, 17th May, our team from Lyons Robin Hood will be heading up mighty Snowdon – all in aid of a charity chosen by you! Awyr Las is a charity that supports the NHS in North Wales. Its purpose is to provide things like medical equipment, more comfortable furniture, research projects, and more, that go over and above what the NHS itself can provide, meaning patients can benefit from better NHS services when they need them the most.

Lyons 2021 Snowdon Challenge is our way of doing what we can on behalf of those who can’t. This is why in just under two weeks, our sales team will put down their handbooks and lace up their hiking boots for the day. To find out more about the challenge and the amazing Awyr Las charity, which are based in Glan Clwyd hospital, visit https://lyonsholidayparks.co.uk/team-snowdon/

North Wales

Snowdonia National Park

Although a very well-known spot, it would be damn right wrong to write this piece without giving the incredible Snowdonia a mention! If you’re not up for the challenge of climbing up the steep rocky mountain, or you have little legs coming along with you, there are plenty of alternative walking destinations within the national park, all of which vary in difficulty, but all of which boast breath-taking views, certainly different from your day-to-day walk!

Betws-y-Coed to Llyn Elsi

Betws-y-Coed is a beautiful village located in Snowdonia National Park, surrounded by green rolling hills, mountains, and peaceful waterfalls. Follow the 6.7km trail from St Marys Church in Betws-y-Coed to Lyn Elsi, and enjoy a bite to eat, picturesque surroundings, and plenty of opportunities for a family selfie along the way!

The ‘Edge of Wales’ Llyn Coast Path

coast therapy

The Edge of Wales Llyn Coast Path is, as you may have guessed, is a coastal path that stretches 95 miles from Caernarfon to Porthmadog along the stunning Llyn Peninsula. Unless you want to be walking for days on end, we suggest you choose the sections of the path suit you best before you set off! The rare and unspoilt coastline is home to seals, dolphins, seabirds, and wild plants, so there is plenty to wow the little ones and nature lovers, not to mention the incredible coastal views.

Coedydd Aber National Nature Reserve – Abergwyngregyn

This trail will lead you up to gorgeous Aber Falls. The waterfall streams from the Carneddau mountains and is a beautiful, must-see feature located in the county of Conwy. The path through the gorgeous woodland is pushchair friendly, and you are likely to come across sheep, horses, birds, and other wildlife along the way!

Llyn Crafnant – Llanrwst

walking

Llyn Crafnant lies peacefully between Gwydir Forest and the Carneddau mountains. This is a beautiful walk that can be enjoyed by the whole family. We recommend visiting on a sunny day as the lake shimmers and sparkles under clear blue skies! You can enjoy a picnic on the bank of the lake or stop at the café for refreshments along the way.

Cumbria

Castlerigg Stone Circle from Keswick

This family-friendly walk is the perfect example of ‘you don’t need to climb a mountain for incredible views.’ This walk will reward you with extensive views towards Blencathra and Skiddaw. There’s also plenty of stones for the kids to count!

Giggle Alley & Eskdale Green

The delightful little railway here is bound to be a hit with the children! So, enjoy a walk or a ride down the valley from Dalegarth to the sea at Ravenglass. Enjoy picturesque mountains, coastal dunes, are marshes along the way, keeping the kids entertained at every turn. You may be glad to hear Eskdale Green is home to two lovely pubs, with beer gardens, play areas, and tasty home-cooked food!

Easedale Tarn

walking

The peaceful Easedale Tarn, located in a hanging valley, is the perfect picturesque location for a picnic! Although a six-mile walk, this is a great route and suitable for children over the age of 5, where you’ll be rewarded with all that the Lakes have to offer, without the tiring peak to the summit!

We have a multitude of caravan parks that you can stay in if you fancy any of these walks. Or if you’re looking for more of a permanent holiday home, why not check out our static caravans for sale in North Wales and static caravans for sale in the lake district
